Academy of Our Lady Open House
November 26, 2007
Application cards are available at all Catholic elementary
schools, at the Office of Catholic Schools, and at local Catholic
high schools beginning November 26, 2007.
Students not enrolled in a Catholic elementary school may
obtain the application card from Academy of Our Lady.
November 30, 2007
The card should be returned to the applicant’s Catholic
elementary school. Elementary schools will send application
cards with students’ transcripts, standardized test results from
the two previous years, and first quarter report cards to
Academy of Our Lady High School. Students not enrolled in a
Catholic elementary school are to return the completed
application card, their transcripts, standardized test results from
the two previous years, and first quarter report cards to
Academy of Our Lady or make sure their school sends the
information to Academy of Our Lady.

January 12, 2008
Application Day at Academy of Our Lady— Students will take
the High School Placement Test on this day.
January 14-18, 2008
Prospective students and their parents will be interviewed.
Freshman applicants return their course selection form.

Letters of acceptance/non-acceptance are mailed.

Scholarship application deadline.

Welcome Night for all incoming eighth graders and freshman
Scholarship winners will be announced.
Admissions Criteria
The schools of the Archdiocese of New Orleans, Louisiana
admit students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to
all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally
accorded or made available to students at its schools. They do
not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic
origin in administration of their educational policies,
admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic
and other school-administered programs. The following
information is used as a basis for consideration for admission:
· School records with emphasis on 5th, 6th, 7th, and/or 8th
grades including standardized test scores
· Elementary and Middle school recommendations
· Interview with the student and her parents
·Other information regarding individual student needs
The decision is based on a composite profile of the individual
applicant drawn from all of the above criteria.

Academic Scholarships
All scholarship applicants must take the High School
Placement Test on Saturday, January 12, 2008 at Academy of
Our Lady High School. Completed scholarship applications
are due in the Main Office at Academy of Our Lady no later
than Wednesday, March 12, 2008. Applications after this
date will not be considered. All letters of recommendation
should be mailed to Academy of Our Lady, c/o Scholarship
Committee, 537 Avenue D, Marrero, LA 70072. Students
qualifying for multiple scholarships will be awarded the one
of greatest value.
8th Grade Scholarships
• Academy of Our Lady Eighth Grade Honor Scholarship
Full tuition for one year
• Academy of Our Lady Eighth Grade Academic Scholarship
$2,000 for one year
• Academy of Our Lady Eighth Grade Merit Scholarship
$500 for one year
9th Grade Scholarships
• Academy of Our Lady Freshman Honor Scholarship
Full tuition each year for four years
• Fiat Voluntus Tua Honor Scholarship
$1,000 each year for four years
• Freshman Academic Scholarship
$800 each year for four years
• Dr. Michele St. Romain Alumnae Scholarship
To be eligible for this scholarship the student must be the
daughter of an Archbishop Blenk High School Alumna.
$600 each year for four years
• Immaculata Alumnae Scholarship
To be eligible for this scholarship, the student must be the
daughter of an Immaculata High School Alumna.
$600 each year for four years
• Academy of Our Lady Merit Scholarships
$500 each year for four years
Scholarship Criteria
To be considered for a scholarship at Academy of Our Lady
the following minimum requirements are to be met:
• Attend Application Day at Academy of Our Lady on
Saturday, January 12, 2008.
• Have a composite score of 90% or above on the Academy
Placement Test taken in January, 2008.
• Have a 3.0 grade point average or higher in English, Math,
Social Studies, and Science courses taken in 6th, 7th, and
8th grades.
• Have good conduct grades and no major discipline
infractions.
• Submit a completed Scholarship Application to the Main
Office at Academy of Our Lady High School no later than
Wednesday, March 12, 2008.
• Obtain and send two letters of recommendation to
Academy of Our Lady High School, c/o Scholarship
Committee, 537 Avenue D, Marrero, LA 70072,
postmarked no later than Wednesday, March 7, 2007.
• Complete the registration process on time.
Renewal Requirements
Recipients must consistently meet the requirements of the
scholarship. A student must maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade
point average on a 4.0 grading scale and have no D’s or F’s in
order to renew her scholarship each year. Students on
attendance or discipline probation may forfeit their
scholarships.

Academy of Our Lady is at the forefront of integrating
technology and curriculum. At the Academy, each
student and faculty member is provided a tablet laptop
computer to enhance the educational opportunities in
the classroom. Through the use of tablet computers,
Polyvision walk-n-talk interactive boards, and the
internet, students are actively preparing themselves for
college, work, and life in the 21st century.

IBM Thinkpad laptop computer with Microsoft Office
2007 for every student
Wireless Network
Wireless internet access in every classroom and
throughout the campus with CISCO access points
allows students and faculty to share information on the
server creating paperless classrooms. Access to online
textbooks, e-books, and internet resources for study and
research is also available.
Resources and Equipment
• Polyvision walk-n-talk interactive boards and LCD
projectors in every classroom
• Twenty-five networked printers
• Computer-based labs using probes and sensors in
Chemistry, Biology, and Physics
• Louisiana Library Database and other databases are in
place for internet research
• Compliant with the Children’s Internet Filtering Act
through the Archdiocese of New Orleans
Courses
Courses include the basics such as Business Computer
Applications as well as Desktop Publishing, Digital
Graphics and Animation, and Web Design.
School Management
Edline, a comprehensive online resource, is used as the
school’s primary means of communication. Every
student, parent, teacher and administrator receives a
unique user account. Parents can access students’
individual class requirements, assignments, and grade
reports. Email alerts notify parents, students and
teachers of important information.
School Reach, an automated telephone response system,
is used to send phone messages to all families in the
event of an emergency or for critical reminders.
About the Academy
Accreditation
Academy of Our Lady is accredited by the Southern
Association of Colleges and Schools and approved by the
Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary
Education.
Courses and Electives
Over 100 courses and 60 electives are offered. The flexible
schedule system allows students to earn up to 32 credits in
four years.
Advanced Placement and Honors Courses
The Academy’s wide selection of Advanced Placement and
honors courses prepares the students for success in college,
and gives them the opportunity to earn college credits.
Eighth Grade Curriculum
The eighth grade experience allows for a gradual transition
into high school life. The Academy of Our Lady offers
traditional eighth-grade and accelerated programs. The
curriculum ensures that students are prepared for the
academic demands of high school.
College Preparation
The Academy has two guidance counselors and two college
advisors on staff to ensure that students are prepared for
college or a career. The combined scholarships earned for the
Classes of 2007 from Archbishop Blenk and Immaculata
High Schools exceed 5 million dollars.
Extracurricular Activities
With over 30 clubs to choose from academics, service and
spirit, the Academy has an activity to match every girl’s
interest.
Athletics
The Academy’s 11 athletic teams compete in the Louisiana
High School Athletic Association, Division 5A.

Tuition Expenses
Upon acceptance, the student will receive a package which
will include information and fees for the 2008-2009 school
year.
Listed below are tuition expenses for the current school year.
Registration Fee $ 400.00
Activity Fee $ 125.00
Technology Fee $ 100.00
Tuition $5,000.00
Total Tuition Expenses $5,625.00
All fees must be paid at registration with the exception of the
technology fee which can be financed with tuition. The
registration fee is nonrefundable and cannot be financed.
The registration fee reserves a place in school for the
applicant and covers administrative and enrollment costs.
Parents have the option of financing the tuition through First
Bank and Trust. Those who do not finance tuition are to pay
in full by the third week in May, 2008.
During the registration process, all families are required to
complete a Parent PARTNERship Form. Participation in the
Parent PARTNERship Program helps meet the educational,
extra-curricular and maintenance needs of the school that
tuition alone does not cover. Participation in the program is
required by all families.
Other Expenses
Expenses such as, but not limited to, uniforms, club fees,
class dues, books, class materials, and extra-curricular
activities are not included in the tuition. These expenses are
the responsibility of the individual student. |
