Salesian Sisters’ Centennial Corner 1920’s-In the early half of the twentieth century, Manhattan’s lower East Side was home to a large number of Italian immigrants served by the Salesians of Don Bosco. In September of 1926, the Sisters supplied the missing ingredient of the Salesian Family when they assumed the administration and staffing of the school. And the name of this school? Mary Help of Christians, of course!
