Upcoming Event - Blood Drive
The Academy family loves to participate in charitable events, and one of the more popular events is the yearly blood drive. Each year, the Health Care Club hosts a drive in order to benefit those who are in need of blood. The Blood Center, fulfilling its motto of “Serving you for Life!” will be on campus for this year’s drive on Wednesday, March 2, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Students can contact Sr. Susan Bagli or any of the Health Care club members in order to find more information about the blood drive or to get a permission slip and sign up.
Anyone can come donate blood, whether it be a student, teacher, parent, or friend. However, there is an age and weight restriction. You must either sixteen years of age and weigh at least 130 pounds, or seventeen years of age and weigh 110 pounds. Anyone eighteen or over who is healthy may donate blood. If you do not meet any of these requirements, students should encourage family members and friends to come donate.

About the Club
Students involved in the Health Care Careers Club will become familiar with the roles of various health care professionals and the educational requirement needed to practice in these areas.
Students will have the opportunity to interact with professional guest speakers, learn the specialized language of health care professionals, and preactice some basic skills in health care, i.e., vital signs (temperature, pulses, and respiration), hand washing and gloving techniques, and patient positioning. This club is open to juniors and seniors by invitation. The HCC Club seeks to guide its members to express a caring concern for others. It is hoped that through the various discussions and activities students will be able to discern their place in God's plan.
