Chemistry Students Make Observations

Observation skills are a key part of the chemistry class experience, and Mrs. Amy Danos used a hands-on lab assignment to help sharpen her students’ skills in this discipline.  Chemistry students made qualitative observations of chemical reactions as they burned various materials in their lab assignment.  As objects were heated and burned, students examined and logged chemical and physical reactions.  One component of the lab work, according to Mrs. Danos, was to examine why some materials were more appropriate than others for use as candle wicks.
