Talk Like a Pirate Day

September 17th was a day for all good "Pi-Rates" to gather in the courtyard for the annual "Talk Like A Pi-Rate Day" sponsored by Mu Alpha Theta, the math honor society. The day's name was a take-off on "Pi," the mathematical term for the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter. Mu Alpha Theta members wore pirate hats and asked students to "talk like pirates" as they read corny jokes about pirates. Students and employees who went along with the game received candy that had pirate-appropriate skull and crossbones wrappers.
